Living Life to the Fullest: Balancing Non-Alcoholic Spirits with Tradition

Age is just a number, and as a woman in her 50s, I am well aware that it is meant to be enjoyed! I embrace every new chapter with joy, health, and adventure, which is very empowering. I’ve told younger friends not to fear the 50s since they have been my best decade yet. The key is not just embracing my age but enjoying my lifestyle on my own terms-this includes a balance of enjoying non-alcoholic spirits while occasionally indulging in a glass of wine or cocktail.

I have always been active and committed to eating well, exercising, and making health-conscious choices. Lately, I have incorporated non-alcoholic spirits into my routine and opted to limit my alcohol intake. This decision is not just about health but also allows me to enjoy the social side of having a “drink” without the negative effects alcohol can bring.

To Health!

As I reach the end of my 50s, I have been prioritizing health even more. Choosing mocktails over cocktails allows me to indulge in the ritual without having a negative impact on my health. I do not bounce back the way I used to in my younger days after a few drinks! Non-alcoholic spirits provide a way to enjoy an evening at home or an event with friends and share the celebratory feeling that holding a drink in my hand gives me.

For me, the shift to non-alcoholic drinks is not a complete break from alcohol but rather a mindful modification. I just feel better when I choose to substitute non-alcoholic spirits for alcohol. I have made other mindful modifications in my choice of exercise, sleep rituals, meditation, and other habits to help me stay healthy.

People ask me how these alternatives to alcohol stack up. Non-alcoholic spirits are often a blend of botanicals, spices, herbs, citrus, and other ingredients. One of my favorites is the Free Spirits Tequila. I used it to make frozen margaritas and a watermelon margarita this summer that were both just delicious! I also like the De Soi Spritz Italiano, which is ready to drink in cans, and Woody’s Sparkling Rose wine, to name a few.

Choosing the Moment

I do have a cocktail on occasion or a glass of wine or champagne when celebrating, but I have found I often prefer the non-alcoholic alternatives. Not only is this a health benefit, but I am also more present, mentally clear, and able to enjoy the moment.

Enjoying your life doesn’t require sacrificing health or well-being. We can choose what makes us feel good in a way that aligns with our values. It’s not the quantity of drinks we have, but the quality of the moments we share and the self-awareness that helps us live fully at any age.

Here’s to celebrating the next stages to come. Raise a glass of your favorite non-alcoholic spirit and enjoy.

With a background in fashion design and retail, I’ve always been drawn to curating and building brands. A trip to LA introduced me to the non-alcoholic space, and combined with my own health journey, it inspired me to create Moxologie - so people can fully participate in social moments without alcohol.

What I love most about these products is that they don’t feel like a compromise - they feel intentional, elevated, and thoughtfully made. They allow people to fully enjoy the experience of a great drink without alcohol. It’s not about what you’re giving up, but what you still get to enjoy: the flavor, the ritual, the experience - all still there.

These products don’t feel like a substitute; they stand on their own. It’s about great taste, thoughtful design, and a full experience, without alcohol.
